Lucas Digne returning to Goodison Park with his new club Aston Villa just 11 days after leaving always had the potential for drama.
And drama has been well and truly provided.
The clash between Everton and Villa was heading into half-time goalless after a blood-and-thunder first 45 minutes on Merseyside until Emi Buendía looped a header into the far corner to give his side the lead.
That goal came from a corner, and the player taking the corner was, you guessed it … Digne.
There were unsavoury scenes after the goal however as it appeared that the Frenchman and Matthew Cash had both been struck objects potentially thrown from the crowd as they lay on the floor during the celebrations.
The reunion was never going to go off without incident.
