Luana Bühler reflected on a positive team performance against Bristol City as we recorded back-to-back clean sheets in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Bethany England gave us the perfect start at Ashton Gate as her goal, inside the opening two minutes of the game, was enough to secure a 1-0 victory over the Robins and made it two wins on the bounce in the league.
The Switzerland international, who was making her 11th WSL appearance of the campaign and 14 in all competitions, was called into action throughout the game to persevere our third clean sheet of the season in the league.
Winning 100% of her aerial duels and making six defensive actions, including an important block to deny Abi Harrison in the second half, the defender’s impressive display in the Southwest saw her name Player of the Match by the supporters.
Speaking after the game on SPURSPLAY, Luana said: “It was a good game and another good performance from the team, and three excellent weeks with some important points.
“It was a tough game, especially in the first half, as we allowed them some counter-attacks and we had to produce some blocks but, I think, for the second half we grew as a team and came back, had plenty of possession and almost scored that second goal.
“You can see now with everything working that we have a lot of possession and players that are really good on the ball, which is fun for us defenders and gives us a good team performance in the end.”
Next up for us is the Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final against Leicester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 14 April – tickets now on general sale – and Luana is looking forward to the historic game in N17.
“It’s going to be a highlight game,” Our number 21 said. “I mean, it’s the first FA Cup semi-final for the Club and it will be in that fantastic stadium, so we are very excited about it and we hope that we can see plenty of supporters there”
Tickets are now available to buy for our Women’s FA Cup clash against the Foxes as we compete in the last four of the competition for the first time in our team’s history.
