In the next round, the LA Galaxy played at home against Tigres UANL for the first leg of the quarterfinals. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

That set the stage up for Tuesday night's second leg. Unfortunately, the result was all too familiar for the LA Galaxy. Another loss.

How did the LA Galaxy's run end in the Concacaf Champions Cup?

John McCarthy started in goal for the Los Angeles Galaxy, again. Miki Yamane returned to the lineup after missing the action against Real Salt Lake last weekend.

The defense has struggled mightily this year. The LA Galaxy could not prevent Nicolás Ibáñez and Uriel Antuna from scoring in the first ten minutes.

Joseph Paintsil's goal at the 40th minute cut the deficit to one entering the half. However, the Tigres UANL star Rômulo added the decisive third goal in the 57th minute. Carlos Garces closed the gap with a goal three minutes later.

The Los Angeles Galaxy couldn't overcome being down 3-2. With this latest loss, the defending MLS Cup champions are no longer in the Concacaf tournament.

Tigres UANL possessed the ball more than 55% of the game. Their nine shot attempts provided six on target with half of those finding the back of the net.

"I would say the team is not playing bad. We are playing football, but the result is what's not coming, and all that we need to do is all of us need to make sure that whenever we are on the field, we are the champions. We should play like a champion, especially playing on our home pitch. You can see the home crowds are dropping out and not coming to the game. But I can rest assured you that with time, everything is going to be peaceful and successful for us. "Joseph Paintsil, LA Galaxy forward

The Los Angeles Galaxy played a very sloppy game as they committed 17 fouls. They allowed a goal from all three lines of the Tigres' Starting XI.

This is not the first time the LA Galaxy have given up three goals to Tigres UANL. On July 17, 2007the Galaxy lost 3-0 vs. Tigres at the World Series of Football.

Next up for the Los Angeles Galaxy is the Houston Dynamo. Both teams have scored just five goals during the MLS regular season. The two soccer clubs play on Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park.
