Lorenzo Lucca is set to become Ajax’s fifth signing of the transfer window, with the Italian striker joining on loan for the season.
Despite the fact that he brought Brian Brobbey back permanently, Alfred Schreuder has openly spoken of his desire to add another, taller striker to the squad before the start of the season.
He now looks set to do so, with multiple sources including De Telegraaf and Fabrizio Romano reporting that Lucca, 201cm tall, is joining the Dutch champions from Pisa for the upcoming campaign.
As per the Italian journalist, he will initially do so on a one-year loan for a fee of €1 million, and Ajax have the option to make the deal permanent for a further €10 million in the future.
There was apparently interest from multiple Italian clubs for the striker, but he wanted to play for the Amsterdam club the most.
The deal is likely to be announced next week, once he passes a medical.
