A less-than-ideal performance from FC Barcelona sees them barely win against Real Valladolid. The Catalan giants were expected to do a lot better, but an early goal from the opposition complicated things. Fortunately, Barcelona managed to mount a comeback and win the game.

With a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals by Raphinha and Fermin Lopez, Barcelona manage to take all three points from this game and temporarily extend their lead in La Liga to seven points. However, it was not a sight to behold, and certainly not the kind of game that should have needed so many first team regulars to come on and make a difference.

Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona players.

Player Ratings:

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen: 7.0

Made a bit of a blunder to concede the first goal, but commanded his box well apart from that. Came off his line well too when needed to help Barcelona in the build up.

Hector Fort: 6.5

Did well enough as the game went on, but struggled initially in terms of winning balls or even duels. Kept being tested throughout the game, but had his moments to shine as well.

Ronald Araujo: 7.5

Committed a few silly challenges that could have resulted in a much more bitter night for him, but apart from that he did incredibly well to keep Barcelona comfortable. Made some great tackles and shielded the ball well when he needed to.

Andreas Christensen: 7.0

A massive opportunity for the Danish defender, who finally made his first start for Barcelona following his time on the sidelines. Managed a solid performance as well alongside Ronald Araujo.

Gerard Martin: 7.5

Struggled to do a lot offensively for most of the game, but was solid enough defensively. Managed to grab a crucial assist, however, during the game that gave Barcelona the lead.

Gavi: 7.0

Remained energetic throughout the game but seems to have picked up some sort of discomfort near the end of his time on the pitch. While he was on the pitch, however, there was arguablyno player more committed to the cause than the young Spaniard.

Pedri: 7.0

Played the first half for Barcelona and failed to help them break through a rigid Real Valladolid side. However, he was also not helped by the fact that his teammates simply made no promising runs and their movement was way too predictable.

Dani Rodriguez: N/A

Was injured early on during the game.

Fermin Lopez: 8.5

One moment that perfectly describes Fermin Lopez came near the end, where he looked to have been injured but kept on running if it meant giving Barcelona a better chance to score a goal. Determined player, and someone who truly gave his all on the pitch today. Shifty and energetic, solid display. Scored a brilliant goal as well with his weaker foot.

Ansu Fati: 6.0

Had moments of ingenuity but nothing more. Was dealt with effectively by the opposition players.

Pau Victor: 7.0

Made some smart runs off the ball that continuously opened up space for his teammates. He was responsible for the space that Fermin Lopez had when he scored his goal.

Substitutes:

Lamine Yamal: 8.0

Ran circles around the Real Valladolid players and definitely played with a level of confidence that no normal player can do things with. Strolled past his markers with ease and let them know constantly that he was one step ahead of them. Fun performance.

Frenkie de Jong: 7.0

Came on for Pedri and did well to navigate his way through this game. Played the right passes and distributed the ball well enough for his team to effectively stay in control for most of the second half.

Raphinha: 8.0

Just the kind of performance that was needed from Raphinha. He came off the bench for the second half and managed to score for Barcelona. Created other dangerous opportunities as well.

Dani Olmo: 6.5

Did well to control the tempo of the game better and added more composure in general when Barcelona were on the ball.
