Julen Lopetegui insists he is certain that his West Ham side will improve under his management following a poor start to the season.
The Hammers have won one, drawn one and lost three of their five Premier League games, and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after being thrashed by Liverpool on Wednesday.
Lopetegui took over at the club in the summer following the departure of David Moyes, who spent five years at the club in his second spell in charge.
Their latest Premier League defeat came in a 3-0 loss to Chelsea at home on Saturday but Lopetegui insists he is still confident of a good season.
He said: “We know we have to improve. We are sure that the Premier League is going to be long for all of us and I’m sure these players are going to overcome, to be better and to improve. I’m sure about this.
“But it is true that we need one win and we want to win the next match. We have to be ready. No excuses despite playing a very tough match yesterday [against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup].
“We have to be ready with big energy and big commitment to face a very demanding match [against Brentford on Saturday].”
