West Ham boss David Moyes must be overjoyed that he managed to flog Grady Diangana to West Brom for £18million.

That is according to former Aston Villa and England striker Darren Bent, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge after a miserable couple of weeks for the Baggies.

The Hawthorns side are now without a win in seven in the league and were dumped out of the FA Cup by League One Blackpool on Saturday.

Diangana was not in the squad for the third-round defeat but has started six of the last seven league matches.

In that time, he has failed to have a meaningful impact on proceedings.

Bents claims West Ham will be glad to have made £18million when they sold him to relegation-destined Albion in the summer.

Asked about West Brom’s transfer activity this season, he told Football Insider: “It looks like a masterstroke from David Moyes to let Diangana go because he’s not really pulled up any trees.

“They need defenders before they worry about anyone else. I was banging the drum when they got Big Sam in… I thought ‘That’s it, they won’t go down.’

“But if anything, they’ve looked worse when Big sam’s got there than under Bilic at times.”

The West Brom board sacked Salven Billic and installed Allardyce in mid-December, with Albion 19th in the table.

They have picked up just one point in the four league matches since, conceding 13 in that same period.
