Robbie Fowler has recently been talking about Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.

Fowler has suggested that Liverpool should make a move for the 25-year-old.

Fowler said that Watkins scores goals and works hard. With that being the case, Fowler believes that Watkins is the type of player that would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system.

“I like Ollie Watkins at Villa,” Fowler told The Athletic.

“When you start delving into how Liverpool play and how they press, his stats are perfect.

“He scores goals and his work rate is spot on. He looks like a Klopp player to me.

“Of course Villa wouldn’t want to lose him and he wouldn’t come cheap but he’s done very well since arriving from Brentford.

“A lot of big clubs didn’t take a chance on him but he’s made that leap from the Championship to the Premier League and has proved he belongs there.”

We would love to see the club sign Watkins, and we will explain why.

Watkins played reasonably well for Aston Villa last season. The forward scored 16 goals and registered five assists in 40 appearances.

Like Fowler stated, he would add goals to Liverpool’s forward line.

Watkins also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.18 last season. The aforementioned figures highlight that Watkins is a solid player.

Watkins’ current contract expires in the summer of 2025, so he won’t be leaving Aston Villa on a free transfer anytime soon.

Watkins has a current market value of €32 million. It has not been reported that Liverpool want to sign Watkins. However, we hope that changes.
