Harry Kane is set to miss England’s Nations League clash with Belgium on Sunday, sparking new injury fears for the Tottenham forward.

The England captain sat out around four months last season after a serious hamstring tear and has had consistent injury struggles over the past few seasons.

Now, with a more hectic schedule than ever, Kane is likely to sit out the visit of Belgium. According to the Mirror, the striker complained about muscle tightness at the end of Saturday’s training session.

The news will frustrate José Mourinho, who urged England boss Gareth Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland to take things easy with Kane during this break.

“When Kane is fit he should start every game for Tottenham but he didn’t [against Chelsea],” Mourinho said. “So I think this is the point. When you have such a player and you want to win every match, you play him, but you just can’t do it.

“I believe that Gareth and Steve care about the players and I don’t think they want to be connected with something that can be a consequence of this week and the three international matches.”

Kane did sit out Thursday’s friendly win over Wales but was expected to start on Sunday and then against Denmark next week.

Premier League top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored on his debut in midweek, is now likely to take Kane’s place.
