Journalist Andrea Longoni believes that the investigation into AC Milan’s ownership situation is proceeding without much anxiety because ‘no worrying facts seem to emerge’.

There has been a cloud hanging over Milan since the news broke on Tuesday of the club’s offices being raided, and La Gazzetta dello Sport gave a good round-up of what we know so far by answering seven key questions.

Since the storm earlier in the week things have gone a bit quiet, perhaps because the evidence collected needs to be sifted through but also maybe because the clarifications that have arrived make it seem like there is no case to answer.

As another bit of essential reading, Felice Raimondo picked apart the various angles that could be brought against the club in a fantastic piece.

Longoni has written about the situation in a column for MilanNews, and he made an interesting revelation about the prosecutor which should raise some eyebrows.

“While waiting to understand what developments the investigation into the real ownership of the Club will have. Compared to Tuesday’s immediate scare, as the days go by, no worrying facts seem to emerge, on the contrary,” he began.

“Conversely, we are talking about professionals, but learning that the Prosecutor Marcello Viola is an avid Inter fan, given this indisputable fact and declared by himself, makes one turn up one’s nose at the very least.

“The affair then confirmed, if there were still any need, Cardinale’s negotiations with the Arab world, also with PIF, one of the two interested groups: in all this there are those who still do not give up even in the face of official documents, written in black and white.”
