Long-time Chivas veteran Edwin Hernández has found a new club | OneFootball

On Thursday morning, it was confirmed that former Chivas left-back Edwin Hernández has left Mexico to become the newest reinforcement of Spanish side Salamanca, who play in the country’s third division.

Hernández, who became a free agent on the first of January, featured 121 times for Chivas over a three-and-a-half-year span but was not named for a single matchday squad last season.

In an interview with Fox Sports, the 33-year-old confirmed that every Liga MX side passed on the opportunity for him to join.

“Yes, yes the doors were closed in Mexico. In the end, it is a business and everyone has their interests, but it ends up affecting the Mexican players.

“Players of the same age have arrived (to Liga MX) and have been given a chance. Now, I have to look for other alternatives and I am grateful to Salamanca for giving me the opportunity to represent their club.”

Hernández was once called up to El Tri for the World Cup qualifying play-off tie against New Zealand in 2013 but never featured.
