Long-term Man United target Fikayo Tomori up for grabs but Newcastle leading the race

Manchester United have lost their last four games while conceding 10 goals with set-pieces proving to be their Achilles heel and Ruben Amorim will be desperate to stop the backline from leaking further goals.

United are languishing in 14th position and with the attack looking toothless at the moment, the defence has to be watertight if the club are to climb back up the Premier League table.

AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori could be on his way out with a recent report by Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the 27-year-old has been transfer listed by the Rossoneri.

As per Teamtalk, the former Chelsea ace has instructed his agent to get him back to the Premier League and back when Erik ten Hag was in charge, the England international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils eventually opted to sign Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt but with Victor Lindelof injured and likely to leave, and the team really struggling at the back, the head coach is not against the idea of going after the Englishman in January.

The Serie A winner has made nine Serie A appearances this season but has not started a league game since October, with his current market value standing at €22 million.

Newcastle are however, said to be in pole position with Milan valuing Tomori at around €30 million.

“Manchester United could reignite their interest in AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori, as the centre-back has reportedly been transfer listed by the Italian giants.

“TEAMtalk understands that Ruben Amorim is not against the idea of Man Utd signing another centre-back in January, following the recent injury to Victor Lindelof.

“Tomori wants his agent to prioritise talks with Premier League clubs, as he would ideally like to return to England. However, TEAMtalk understand that Newcastle is a more likely destination for the England international than Man Utd.”

If not in January, Monday’s loss to the Magpies makes it pretty clear that defensive improvements are needed once the season concludes.

Tomori is relatively young and has the experience of playing in the Premier League, both qualities INEOS quite like. But whether they go after him remains to be seen.
