La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday been afforded a boost on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that youngster Alejandro Balde has taken a significant step forward in his recovery from injury.

Left-back Balde, for his part, has of course not taken to the pitch since all the way back in January.

As much comes after a hamstring injury suffered during a meeting with Athletic Club saw the youngster forced under the knife.

Balde has spent the months since in an extensive recovery process, with a view to regaining full fitness in time for pre-season.

And, on Tuesday, such endeavours took a considerable step in the right direction.

This comes with Balde having been photographed back on the training pitch in Catalunya’s capital.

The 20-year-old was put through an individualised programme, focusing on running drills, away from the rest of boss Xavi’s Barcelona squad.

It remains unlikely that the defender will take to the pitch again before the season is out, but his return to competitive action suddenly appears a lot closer.
