London City Lionesses sign midfielder Groves | OneFootball

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of midfielder Izzy Groves on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this evening.

The 24-year-old Jamaican midfielder joins London City Lionesses following a spell playing in France with US Saint-Malo. The player started her career in the American college system before enjoying spells playing in Portugal and France. She is now ready to test herself in England in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

After sealing her move to London City Lionesses, Groves said “I’ve been loving the environment since I arrived.

“When I sat down with the coaches and spoke about what their main goal is, I was super-excited to hear what they had to say and commit to the project. All of the girls have been very welcoming and I’m excited to get started on Sunday.

“I’ve always aspired to play in England and it definitely feels like a second home, with the fact that my mum was born here. It’s always been somewhere that I’ve wanted to be and I’m thrilled join London City for the next phase of my career.”

Groves could go straight into the London City Lionesses squad for the fixture against Watford at Princes Park on Sunday.
