Lokomotiv Zagreb midfielder Justin de Haas says he should be a Chelsea player.

De Haas joined Lokomotiv Zagreb this summer from PSV Eindhoven, having spent last season on-loan with Dinamo Zagreb.

But while with AZ Alkmaar, De Haas had the chance to join Chelsea, only for their transfer ban to see the move fall through.

He recalled to Voetbalzone, “Chelsea showed interest in the winter at the time (2019). I actually had my mind set on that. AZ did not want to let me go at that time and kept me to my contract. This was their right, but that is why it did not take place at the time.

“They then got a transfer ban at the time. I could wait, but then I couldn't play any matches for six months. Although Chelsea is of course top financially, it was not a good choice for my sporting development and that is why I chose PSV."
