AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has stated that he and the team cannot be satisfied with the result obtained against Salernitana, but insisted the Scudetto race is not over.

Milan were forced to settle for a draw against Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi on Friday night. Fikayo Tomori opened the scoring with a close range finish from Rafael Leao’s shot, but Federico Fazio’s header levelled things before the break.

Antonio Candreva’s driven shot made it 2-1 to the home side before Luka Jovic buried a knockdown from inside the box to equalise inside the final few minutes to ensure Stefano Pioli’s side do not give their team the worst possible outcome.

Loftus-Cheek spoke to DAZN at the end of the game against Salernitana, with his comments relayed by MilanNews and translated below.

Are you disappointed or satisfied with the comeback?

“Definitely not satisfied. Everyone in the dressing room is very disappointed, we feel like it’s a defeat. We came here, we didn’t play as we should have and we didn’t get the three points. We started well but let them get back into the game. Obviously when you play away it’s not easy, the crowd makes the difference. Certainly not one of our best matches. We are very disappointed ”.

How do you explain this situation?

“I believe that now we need to let the disappointment and all the negative emotions we feel cool down. Tomorrow we will talk more calmly, with a clear head, and we will try to reach a solution .”

Do you still believe in the Scudetto?

“ Anything can happen, we can’t help but think that there is still a lot to play for. You never know in football. We have to believe in it but we have to think about one game at a time, we can’t think too far ahead. We have to win games like this. We have to find a solution to win these types of matches and think one match at a time.”
