Xavi Simons says he is "living a dream" after joining Tottenham in a deal worth £52million.

The Dutch star was long expected to move to Chelsea this summer, with the Blues having agreed personal terms with the player earlier in the window. However, a bid never materialised and Spurs quickly swooped in after missing out on Eberechi Eze.

Simons was unveiled by Spurs on Friday before being paraded in front of fans on Saturday. On Sunday, Simons was back in his homeland to watch the Dutch Grand Prix.

Speaking to DAZN Espana on the grid at Circuit Zandvoort, Simons said of his move to Spurs: "I'm living a dream for myself and also for my family."

Simons was a popular figure before lights out, and was also cornered by Sky Sports and asked about Spurs.

He said: "I watched [the home loss to Bournemouth] with my family, so really happy to make this step. So yeah, looking forward.

"I cannot wait to start the game [against West Ham after the international break], to play in the Premier League, so I’m really happy."
