With Milan Skriniar currently on loan at Fenerbahce and looking likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain for good, the club appears to be in the market for a new center-back this summer. While nothing is official yet, all signs suggest PSG are preparing for life without Skriniar.

Back in February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG were showing strong interest in Ibrahima Konate, adding fuel to the speculation around his future. The Frenchman’s current deal with the English side

Konate, a Paris native, has reportedly become a top target for the club. He started his youth career at Paris FC before moving to RB Leipzig, and now it seems PSG are keen to bring him back home.

TBR Football reports that Liverpool are in talks to extend the contracts of Konate, Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley. The Reds know that the Frenchman is one several other clubs’ radar, so they need to extend him.

If Liverpool and Ibrahima Konate can’t reach an agreement on a new contract, the club may decide to sell the defender this summer and use the funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Per Hamzah Khalique-Loonat of The Times, Konate’s agent surprised Fenway Sports Group by requesting a 150 percent pay bump, which would raise the defender’s weekly wages to £200,000. That figure would place him behind only Mohamed Salah (£350,000) and Virgil van Dijk (£220,000) among the club’s top earners.

Contract talks have stalled, with a significant gap between what Konate wants and what Liverpool are willing to offer. Meanwhile, Real Madrid and PSG are reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
