Liverpool winger Luis Díaz has suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury, Jürgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Colombian has been out of action since October after picking up a knock in the defeat to Arsenal with the expectation that the former Porto player would be out of action for ten weeks.

Klopp, speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv said: “What’s not good is we have to see with Lucho.

“He felt something and we need to have further assessment there, but apart from that they all look really, really good.”

The 25-year-old was present in training in Liverpool’s opening sessions as a training camp in Dubai, where the Reds have travelled to ahead of the resumption of the Premier League campaign on Boxing Day.

It has been stated that Díaz was complaining of discomfort in his knee and has now returned to Liverpool to undergo assessments on the injury.

Klopp’s side face Manchester City in the EFL Cup fourth-round on 22 December.
