Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is FC Barcelona’s top priority to strengthen the attack heading into the summer transfer window.

The Colombian ace, under contract with Liverpool for two more years, is seen by Deco and Hansi Flick as a superior option to Marcus Rashford and Nico Williams.

In fact, the 28-year-old attacker has been the Barça director’s preferred target since last season and remains at the top of the list.

Luis Diaz wants Barcelona move

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, what benefits Barcelona is that Diaz shares the same objective: joining the Catalan club for the upcoming season. The Colombian is fully aware of Barça’s interest and is actively working to facilitate his departure from Liverpool.

Through his agent, Diaz has started to stir things at Anfield. The first move was to reject any attempt by Liverpool to open talks over a renewal – a clear sign of his intent to leave. With two years left on his deal, Liverpool are at a crossroads: renew or sell.

In addition to rejecting a renewal, Diaz’s agent has informed Liverpool that the player wishes to leave this summer to sign for Barcelona.

On top of that, Diaz has even turned down a major offer from Saudi Arabia – specifically from Al-Nassr – as his clear priority is to join Barcelona.

The 28-year-old’s motivation is to be part of Flick’s project, with the backing of Deco. He is excited by the idea of joining a winning project at Barça and playing alongside Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona value Diaz a lot

Barça value Diaz for his one-on-one ability on the left flank, his defensive work rate, and his capacity to contribute on both ends of the pitch. His versatility and commitment make him an ideal fit.

Additionally, his longstanding support for Barça, confirmed years ago by his father, adds weight to his desire to sign. For club president Joan Laporta and director Deco, this loyalty is crucial.

While Liverpool are asking for €85 million, the La Liga champions hope to negotiate a significantly lower fee with the help of the player and his camp.

After all, the Catalan giants are fully aware that Diaz is pushing to wear the Barça shirt at the new Spotify Camp Nou
