Liverpool were interested in Sporting Lisbon forward Joelson Fernandes before he signed a new deal with the club, according to his agent and father Mango Fernandes.
Joelson Fernandes signed a new deal with Sporting Lisbon at the beginning of September.
However, before that took place, the winger had three meetings with Liverpool Football Club, according to Mango Fernandes.
The following information was extracted from odemocratagb.com.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Joelson Fernandes has only made the four appearances for Sporting Lisbon’s first-team, so he is quite an inexperienced player.
In Sporting Lisbon’s under-23 team, he has scored five goals and registered two assists in 28 appearances.
Joelson Fernandes is only 17 years of age, so he still has plenty of room left for improvement in his game.
Joelson Fernandes signed a new deal with Sporting Lisbon on the 10th of September. Nine days later, Liverpool signed Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers .
We are glad that Liverpool acquired Jota this summer instead of Joelson Fernandes, as he is a Premier League proven player.
Jota has scored 17 goals in 70 Premier League appearances, which backs that particular argument up.
