Liverpool have set their eyes on PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko for the summer transfer window, according to a report from TeamTalk. The club believe he is an upcoming star and it will be smart to secure his signature early on.

The Reds might face stiff competition from arch-rivals Manchester City and Manchester United. However, the Red Devils are unlikely to go for his signing as they are more keen on bringing Michael Olise than the Belgian player.

Johan Bakayoko is electrifying

Regarded as one of the most promising talents at present, Johan Bakayoko was promoted to the senior side of PSV Eindhoven last year. Since then, he has become a regular starter in the lineup, all thanks to his consistent performances.

The 20-year-old has already scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 40 games this season. He is averaging 2.8 shots, 2 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game. With such solid numbers, a move to a bigger league in Europe must be on the cards (stats via whoscored).

Bakayoko operates on the right wing and likes to cut in towards the penalty box to create goal scoring threats. He is a dribbling expert and also has great pace. With good shooting power, the ability to make key passes and dominate in the aerial duels is what makes him tick as a player.

Johan Bakayoko is a good bet

Liverpool’s reported interest in Johan Bakayoko is understandable as the youngster is definitely someone with potential. He has also been performing well and will hit his peak years soon. With more experience under his belt, he will improve and can emerge as a premium goal scorer.

One more reason behind the Reds’ pursuit of the Belgium emerging star is the uncertainty over the future of Mohamed Salah. Saudi’s interest has returned and the Eygpt star could be on his way towards exiting the club following the end of this season. Hence, the Premier League side must remain prepared for such a situation.
