Liverpool will travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Saturday evening as both of them look to grab all three points from this Premier League match-up. The Reds will come into the match on the back of a 2-0 victory over Everton that brought joy to Anfield while the Magpies recorded a stalemate as they drew 1-1 away at Bournemouth.

Jurgen Klopp will go with the conventional 4-3-3 formation and could make one tweak to his first XI for this game. Virgil Van Dijk will get the nod to play from the start while Joe Gomez makes way for him and drops to the bench.

Eddie Howe will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation as well and is expected to name a strong first XI for this away encounter.  Anthony Gordon could feature from the start and Callum Wilson could lead the attack up front.

The Reds will remain without the services of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara, the latter picked up a fresh hip injury, so he’s expected to be sidelined for a few weeks. However, Klopp will have Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino who have all returned to the matchday squad in the last match, and Arthur Melo could potentially be the next to join them this weekend after returning to training from thigh surgery.

Newcastle United

Three Newcastle starters were forced off through injury during the last game as Joe Willock, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron were substituted. However, Howe is confident that Almiron and Saint-Maximin could make a rapid recovery to start this match along with Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles, but Willock remains doubtful because of a hamstring injury. Moreover, The Magpies will be without the services of Bruno Guimaraes as he remains absent through suspension alongside Javier Manquillo, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett through injuries.
