Liverpool are setting a relentless pace at the top of the Premier League table and the Reds will bid to maintain their title charge when Fulham visit Anfield in one of four 3pm matches on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s men had last weekend off after Storm Darragh forced the postponement of the Merseyside derby but they still boast a four-point buffer over Chelsea as well as a game in hand on the Blues.

Fulham, meanwhile, did Liverpool a favour last weekend by battling to a 1-1 Craven Cottage draw with Arsenal, and they’ll hope for another positive result against the league leaders.

Liverpool welcomed back goalkeeper Alisson Becker for the 1-0 midweek Champions League win over Girona and the Brazilian stopper, fit again after a two-month spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, is likely to continue between the sticks.

The Reds will, however, be without Alexis Mac Allister, who picked up a fifth booking of the season in the 3-3 draw at Newcastle in Liverpool’s last league match, so Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai should continue in a midfield three.

Forwards Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are doubts while Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are out.

Fulham are without defensive midfielder Harrison Reed, who has had knee surgery, and Tom Cairney and Calvin Bassey are both suspended.

Reiss Nelson is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury he sustained in the 3-1 win over Brighton and Marco Silva is also sweating on the fitness of Joachim Anderson, who hasn’t played since the 4-1 loss at Wolves in on November 23rd.

Slot wants to see more from his team

Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the table in both the Premier League and Champions League but Arne Slot was far from pleased with his team’s performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Girona.

A penalty from red-hot Mohamed Salah — his seventh goal in six games across all competitions — gave the Merseysiders a sixth win from as many Champions League games and effectively assured them of a top-eight finish in the league phase with games against Lille and PSV Eindhoven to come in January.

However, Slot expressed dissatisfaction in his post-match press conference, urging his players to be more aggressive out of possession.

He said: “Every time we lost the ball we were not aggressive enough, almost every time they (Girona) just went all the way to our goal.

“We had hardly any control in the game, maybe the second half was better – I’m trying to be positive.”

Slot was, however, delighted to see Alisson return to the side, describing the Brazilian as “the best goalkeeper in the world.”
