Liverpool boasts a relatively fit squad with the only injury worry being Jarell Quansah after Slot confirmed in Friday’s press conference that the 21-year-old academy graduate had picked up a knock on Tuesday, in some ways saving Slot from a difficult decision following Jarell Quansah’s half time replacement by Ibrahima Konate. Brentford come into the game with four guaranteed injuries, Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago were all confirmed to be out for the fixture by Bees boss Thomas Frank. There is some doubt around Key man Ivan Toney’s availability following rumours of a move to the Saudi Pro League emerged, with Frank commenting “Ivan has trained for the whole week with a good attitude in every aspect, so he could be involved, and he could not be involved.” “ He could be here after 30 August, and he could not be here. Basically, everything is up in the air.”

In recent weeks Brentford have familiarised themselves with Liverpool in the transfer market signing the youthful duo of Sepp Van Den Berg and Fabio Carvalho for £52.5m including add-ons. Thomas Frank commented on both player’s availability. Frank confirmed that Carvalho is “definitely in the squad” and “it is possible” that van den Berg will be involved.

During Friday’s presser, Slot was asked about how he felt leading up to his Anfield premier league debut “It’s not going to be the first taste because we played Sevilla already, but it’s clear that it’s the first league game at Anfield. [I’m] looking forward to it but I’m looking forward to every game I’ve played in the past as a manager and also to this one.” Hopefully, the Anfield faithful will be able to help Slot and his men get over the line with ease.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker whilst speaking to Liverpoolfc.com spoke on Slots defensive demands, This is a clear message from the manager. He wants us to get more clean sheets. “He understands the importance of getting clean sheets, of having a team that can defend really well, being solid, being compact, being consistent. This is going to carry us through the season and will win us games as well. “We know the offensive quality that we have. So if we can defend the same way as we attack, if we can be that good, it will be really good for us this season to achieve our goals.”

So far the Reds have set out to meet demands with last week’s clean sheet and will be hoping to extend further on Sunday.

“NEVER GOT ANYTHING OUT OF TRIPS TO ANFIELD” – LIVERPOOL VS BRENTFORD PREVIEW W/NATALIE SAWYER

Predicted Lineup

XI: Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Alister, Dominik Szoboszlai; Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz.

Following last week’s 2-0 victory at Portman Road, the only anticipated change is Ibrahima Konate, who was subbed on at half-time in the match, in place of Jarell Quansah. Following Ryan Gravenberch’s impressive performance at the 6 position it should be expected that he keeps his spot in place of Wataru Endo. The forward line seemed to connect well throughout the game with Mo Salah and Diogo Jota both landing themselves on the score sheet. The Reds seemed to get into their rhythm in the second half of last week’s fixture with every player impressing, drastic change should not be expected.

Prediction

Liverpool 3-0 Brentford
