The 22-year-old was a crucial player for the 05ers, helping them keep eight clean sheets in 33 Bundesliga appearances.

He won 62% of his duels in the German top flight, impressing with his aerial ability. He is in the 99th percentile for aerial duels won among defenders in the top five leagues.

Sepp is in the 85th percentile for clearances per 90 minutes (5.04 per game) and makes 2.09 blocks per game, which puts him in the 98th percentile.

He is also in the 75th percentile for interceptions, recording 1.36 per match.

However, Mainz are unlikely to be able to keep the starlet due to their financial situation, meaning Brentford, Southampton or Wolfsburg can pounce.

Brentford suffered plenty of defensive injuries this season and are keen on bolstering their rearguard to avoid a repeat next term.

Southampton are preparing for life in the top flight and have the Liverpool defender on their radar.

The two clubs have a fantastic relationship, having completed more than £171 million in transfer transactions over the years.

Wolfsburg are also looking to strengthen their backline after a lacklustre campaign and will target a move for Van den Berg.

Liverpool are prepared to cash in on the defender, making a profit on the £4.4m they paid for him when he joined from PEC Zwolle in 2019.

The Reds will reinvest the money in signing another defender, with Joel Matip also set to leave the club.
