The Reds will be heading into the game with high confidence following the reassuring 3-1 win against Southampton on Saturday afternoon with Mohammed Salah adding another two goals to his tally taking his total to 32 goals and 22 assists for the season. The French forward Ousmane Dembele will be looking to get amongst the goals at Anfield following his 33 goals and assists in 35 games this season.

Former Liverpool and PSG player Mohammed Sissoko said: “PSG are very good, I was very surprised because you are Liverpool and you came to Paris and I thought you would have more control of the game. I was in the stadium and I thought Paris Saint Germain played very, very well and deserved to win, but in the end, Liverpool managed to win which is very important for the game.”

It has only happened once before in the UEFA Champions League that a team had 25 fewer shots than their opponent and still came out victorious, which could prove vital for Liverpool given they have progressed from their last 14 knockout games when they have been winning in the first leg.

Sissoko said: “My prediction is that they (Liverpool) have a chance to win, the game is at home at Anfield so I think a win for Liverpool.”

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Liverpool will be looking to use Anfield as their 12th man once again in a European tie to ensure they secure their existing lead in this fixture. The two sides have only met three times in Champions League history, with The Reds being victorious twice and PSG the other once.

Sissoko added: “When I talk about Liverpool it’s something special. You need to see when you come to Anfield to know exactly what happens there because it’s something special you know, the people, the atmosphere, when they put pressure and how they support the team for the players and for the fans its very special.” Arne Slot’s side have been in impenetrable form this season only losing once in the Premier League and once in the Champions League. Harvey Elliot’s late winner last week came just 47 seconds after the Dutch manager summoned him from the bench, leaving many people giving Slot his plaudits.

Arne Slot said: “ It’s always hard not to start Harvey, not to start Wataru, not to start all the other ones I don’t play. But if someone come in for five minutes, touches his first ball and scores a goal and then it changes your whole idea about the line-ups you made before, that would be weird as hell.”

Liverpool only registered two shots last week as opposed to PSG’s 27 shots, however,r that is no stain on their performance since they built a brilliant defensive unit accumulating 10 blocks, 22 clearances and Alisson making 9 decisive saves.

It is likely that the Brazilian will need to be on the top of his game once again as the French giants have been in brilliant goalscoring form with 15 goals in their last 3 league matches including a 7-0 thrashing of Stade Briochin. Last week’s game was not without its controversy, as PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos was seen protesting Virgil Van Dijk in the tunnel following an unpunished challenge from Konate on Bradley Barcola, which left many spectators dumbfounded.

With Cody Gakpo missing the last two games with a knock, The Reds will be hoping to have the Dutchman on the bench for this fixture so they have the option of bringing on a clinical forward tomorrow night.

Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Macallister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Nunez, Diaz
