Liverpool under-23s boss Barry Lewtas has praised Sepp van den Berg.

Van den Berg wants regular football to make the next step in his career, and is reportedly preparing for a loan to get first team experience.

The Dutchman starred in Monday's draw with Everton, and Lewtas says he will leave the club ready for his next challenge.

"The bigger picture is the development of the players," said Lewtas.

"Sepp van den Berg was fantastic against Everton. His level of consistency was really good, and it was good that Billy Koumetio was alongside him.

"It's the same with Liam Millar - we want to do what's best for the boy's development.

"Sepp's level of progress this year has been really good. He has been a part of how we have been able to play a higher defensive line and he has quality in possession.

"If that was to be his last game for us this season, he has gone out on a real high."
