Football Insider are reporting that ‘Liverpool are plotting a move for PSV ace Bakayoko in case they lose Mohamed Salah’. They add.

‘Egyptian superstar Salah has emerged as the latest big name to be targeted by clubs in Saudi Arabia and Liverpool are drawing up contingency plans to find potential replacements. ‘Belgian ace Bakayoko is firmly on their radar after catching the eye for club and country in the last 12 months. ‘Bakayoko, 20, plays in the same role as Salah (a right-sided inverted winger) and is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe. ‘The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli have been linked with Bakayoko – and now Liverpool have also placed the attacker on their list of targets as they look to plan for the possibility of Salah leaving Anfield in the future.’

Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have left Liverpool to join the Saudi Pro League this summer and it’s been claimed by Qatari outlet Alkass that Salah has ‘green-lighted’ a move to Al-Ittihad.

This report has since been refuted by Fabrizio Romano, who is of the understanding that Salah is still “100% committed” to Liverpool.

Robbie Fowler manages Saudi side Al-Qadsiah but he has insisted that he “wants” Salah to “stay at Liverpool.

“I’ll put in a word for him to stay. I want him to stay at Liverpool. But good players will always get linked here because this country and this Pro League wants good players and that’s the simplicity of it,” Fowler told talkSPORT.

When asked about the exits to the Saudi Pro League from the Premier League giants already this summer, the club legend added that these transfers prove that the Middle East nation means business: “I think it’s a huge statement, we spoke before about where this country wants to be.

“When you’re signing players who are playing for England, and Liverpool’s captain, it’s huge, it really is, and it just shows you the power of what can happen if you want it badly.”
