Galatasaray made an enquiry into the availability of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker but saw the approach turned down.
The Turkish Süper Lig champions are in the market for a new goalkeeper with the long-serving Fernando Muslera having departed as a free agent.
Galatasaray have already sealed the marquee addition of Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich and Sky Germany have claimed the Istanbul outfit targeted Alisson as a high-profile goalkeeper.
Their approach arrived ‘a few weeks ago’ but was immediately rejected by Liverpool. Alisson is regarded as one of world football’s top goalkeepers and the Reds have no plans to let the Brazilian leave. He is contracted to the club until 2027.
Galatasaray had hoped Liverpool would consider a sale given the imminent arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. However, the latter will replace the departed Caoimhín Kelleher as Alisson’s deputy with the view to a long-term succession plan.
Alisson has been with Liverpool since arriving from Roma in 2018. He has made 298 appearances across all competitions and has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League among his honours.
In addition to a top goalkeeper, Galatasaray are continuing to work on a deal for Victor Osimhem. The Nigeria international scored 37 goals on loan at the club last season and has a €75m release clause in his contract at Napoli.
Galatasaray are hoping to negotiate a deal that involves that fee paid in multiple instalments.
