Liverpool got the result they needed on Sunday if they’re to secure one of their top targets of the 2024 summer transfer window.
We exclusively revealed earlier in the season that Liverpool are looking at Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. The player scored 19 times in the Championship this season, assisting another nine.
Fabrizio Romano backs that up, suggesting the interest has been there for a very long time now. And it's one that now makes quite a bit of sense.

Arne Slot is stepping in as the next Liverpool manager - a compatriot of Summerville and one who he'll be clued in on. The winger was one of the most exciting young players in the Eredivisie for a spell, while Slot was AZ Alkmaar's boss.
But there is a problem with the move. Teamtalk suggested recently that Summerville won't push for a transfer as he's not certain leaving Leeds is the right idea.
That, however, might have changed after Sunday.
The 'problem' might have solved itself. After all, Summerville thought that back when he was confident the club could win promotion to the Premier League.
They played out the Playoff final against Southampton on Sunday but lost 1-0. It means Leeds will be a Championship side again next season, and that's something that massively strengthens Liverpool's position.
After all, Summerville will be far more likely to want a transfer now. Leeds, too, won't have the cash they'd hoped for and resisting an offer for their star asset will be incredibly difficult.
Of course, there's a little ways to go before Liverpool actively push for a deal. We're not sure they have space for another forward without moving someone on.
But if the club do decide to sell a forward - and Luis Diaz is consistently linked with a move away - then Summerville could be quite high up the list of signings.
Especially after Sunday.
