Here's all the latest Liverpool transfer news to catch up on today Monday October 14 as Fabrizio Romano issues a Virgil van Dijk update and Liverpool plan a raid on Valencia.
A new report by BILD is claiming that Liverpool are interested in Borussia Dortmund’s emerging English starlet Jamie Gittens.
The report claims that the Reds have sent scouts to watch Gittens, but are already facing competition from Chelsea and Tottenham for the young winger.
Gittens, already valued at £30m, is truly making a name for himself this season, already racking up starts in both the Bundesliga and Champions League.
According to Fichajes, the club has identified Spanish centre-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia as a potential new addition.
At 20 years old, the Spaniard has been an ever-present for Valencia this season and he was paramount to his country's Olympic gold-medal success this past summer.
Mosquera is currently fighting for the Golden Boy award at the Ballon d'Or ceremony which takes place later this month, and he is widely recognised as one of the biggest talents in his position the world.
According to the Fichajes report, he is valued at €30million and Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also potential suitors.
The futures of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are all anyone is talking about surrounding Liverpool at the moment.
The situation is looming over what has otherwise been a tremendous start to the season like a dark cloud on a sunny day. It is exacerbated by the fact that all three have started their seasons in scintillating form.
Links to replacements for Salah and Trent are rife - this is not the case when it comes to potentially replacing van Dijk.
This is a trend that was supported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano this week.
Liverpool’s centre-back situation is in a strange limbo at the moment.
They arguably have the best defence in England right now, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté conceding only two goals in their opening seven Premier League games.
Yet, with Van Dijk’s contract situation unresolved and backup Joe Gomez looking to leave the club, there is a realistic chance they could be starting next season with Konaté and youngster Jarell Quansah at the back.
And yet, links to new centre-back signings are few and far between. One of the most consistent this season so far has been Brazilian youngster Vitor Reis.
