Liverpool's greatest-ever winger - Mohamed Salah - is in the final year of his contract as club negotiations have so far proved unsuccessful.

And despite starting this season in sparkling form, once again, the club risks losing him on a free transfer if new terms can't be agreed.

Former Everton chief, Keith Wyness, has revealed to Football Insider that he is told Salah is expected to move on.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, he said: "Liverpool will be managing this. They’ll be having discussions with Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah in the background.

"But I’m hearing that, finally, Salah will be off to the Middle East."

Liverpool have entered talks with Milos Kerkez over a potential transfer from Bournemouth, as Anfield Watch exclusively reported last week.

That report has now been confirmed by Hungarian state-owned media outlet M4 Sport, so a transfer is looking more and more likely each day.

The Bournemouth left-back is seen as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who at 31 is entering the twilight years of his career.

To get a better insight into Kerkez's background and why he's the perfect fit for Liverpool, we spoke to Anfield Watch's Hungarian football expert, Bence Bocsak. His answers give us an illuminating insight into why Kerkez is on Liverpool's wishlist.

The appointment of Arne Slot at Liverpool has marked the start of a period of change at Anfield, but he still has the Reds competing.

The style of football has changed, but Liverpool’s ability to compete with just about any side in Europe remains intact.

Positionally, a number of key battles have arisen, including Cody Gakpo vs Luis Diaz at left-winger.

However, the closest fought battle has been at left-back, between Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, and according to an exclusive from TBR Football, neither player may end up winning with Fulham star Antonee Robinson being identified as a potential transfer target.

Liverpool's midfield has undergone some serious surgery in recent years.

Last season saw the arrivals of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in a transfer window that completely changed the makeup of the squad, with younger midfielders brought in to replace the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who joined Saudi Arabian sides on massive wages.

Arne Slot has used those three to completely revitalise the side, with all three crucial parts of Liverpool's fantastic start to the season alongside Curtis Jones.

But while Liverpool's midfield assets get more and more used to covering different roles, space may open up in the squad for another attack-minded player, and Liverpool have been linked with Lyon's Rayan Cherki this week.

Liverpool's ongoing search for a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement points towards the signing of another Egyptian, Omar Marmoush.

The Eintracht Frankfurt forward is in scintillating form this season with eleven goals in just ten Bundesliga games, along with seven assists.

He's one of the only players in world football matching Salah's numbers this season, having a total of 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

"Omar Marmoush is incredibly talented and currently a key player for his club and the national team," Salah said, according to Egyptian outlet WinWin. "But I hope he can stay away from comparisons because they will keep putting him under constant pressure.
