Liverpool will lead the race to sign Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Reds made an enquiry to sign the 27-year-old this summer but the Gunners swiftly knocked back the approach.

However, now Arsenal and manager Unai Emery have scrapped talks over a new contract, Jürgen Klopp will return with Ramsey’s current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Arsenal would prefer to cash in on the midfielder in January though he will be available for nothing next summer.

As well as Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with interest while clubs in Europe, including Juventus and Milan, are keen on securing his signature.

The newspaper claims Ramsey is excited at the though of playing for Klopp at Anfield and a return to the Champions League with a tilt at the title also more likely on Merseyside than at the Emirates. A reunion with former Arsenal team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another factor in his interest.
