Liverpool are facing three tough games in the next ten days, starting with their trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Reds earned a 2-1 victory last week against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where they were below par in the second half. It felt like the players were suffering from tiredness, and it is now upto Arne Slot to keep the squad fresh.
Slot confirmed in the press conference that Joe Gomez could be out for numerous weeks because of a hamstring injury. The Reds defender may need surgery, but Slot expects him to return before the end of the season.
Another player who is likely to miss out is Cody Gakpo. The Dutch attacker missed the previous game, and Slot doesn’t expect the 25-year-old forward to travel to Villa Park either.
Gakpo has been in terrific form this season, and it looks like it won’t be long before he makes a comeback to the side.
He said: “I think both [Gakpo and Gomez] are not available for tomorrow. Cody is close to being back and Joe will take quite a long time. He is going to be out for numerous weeks because of a hamstring injury.”
Curtis Jones is available following his suspension in the previous game.
Liverpool are seven points ahead of Arsenal, and they are in fantastic form at the moment. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 15 games in the Premier League, and they are likely to take the title race to the wire.
Villa have managed only two wins in their last six games in all competitions, but they are a top side at home. It is going to be a cracking contest, and Liverpool need to improve their performance level from the previous game.
