Liverpool target and West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has been left out of West Ham’s squad to face Brentford in a pre-season friendly. The reason for his absence is not yet known, but it has certainly added fuel to the fire regarding links to a move away.

The winger has been linked with a switch to Liverpool this summer in what would be a classic piece of business from Jurgen Klopp. Under the German, the Reds have brought in plenty of players from all too familiar positions.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Xherdan Shaqiri all came from lesser clubs compared to those who sit at the top table in Europe. Like the aforementioned trio, if Bowen did make the move, he’d hope to develop into a top player.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

If his absence is to do with a potential move, it would come as a pleasant surprise. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of noise to suggest Bowen is unhappy at West Ham, therefore, it would be a strange decision for the Hammers to omit him for any reason to do with a departure.

If the Reds do make the move, it should be celebrated as a good one. He would act as an astute backup for the front three whilst possessing plenty of years ahead of him to develop.
