The report claims Sancho was disappointed that he failed to sign for Manchester United last summer despite strong interest from Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s side.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It could be interesting to hear the reasons Sancho has for wanting to leave Dortmund. Our theory is that he wants to prove that he can replicate his form from Germany in the Premier League to show any doubters in his home country that he is the real deal. Sancho left Manchester City before he made a competitive appearance for the club, so has not played a senior game in England despite growing up in the country and coming through the ranks at City.

He has certainly proven his class in the Bundesliga for Dortmund. In 102 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, Sancho has provided 38 goals and 50 assists for the German outfit. This shows that he has been consistent at both scoring goals and laying on assists for his teammates, averaging just below an assist every other game in the league, which is incredibly impressive for a player who only turned 21 in March.

Whether or not Liverpool will be able to afford a move for Sancho remains to be seen, but he appears to be an excellent signing on paper given his record in the Bundesliga and his age. He could have a point to prove in the Premier League and that could motivate him to be a superb addition to Liverpool or Manchester United’s squad next season.
