Liverpool’s recruitment drive is already gathering pace under Arne Slot, and the left-back position is firmly on the radar. According to TEAMtalk, the Reds are seriously considering a move for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez – a 21-year-old Hungarian who has impressed with both his maturity and output.
With Andy Robertson now 31 and no longer at the peak of his powers, Slot is eager to inject youthful competition into the position. Kerkez is top of Liverpool’s shortlist, and per the report, “TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that Bournemouth will demand £45m for Kerkez this summer. They are well aware of Liverpool’s interest and will not accept any lower bids.”

It’s a fee that could have proved prohibitive in previous windows, but Liverpool’s current standing gives them options. “This could be a stumbling block for Liverpool but they do have the money and PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules) wiggle room.”
The backdrop to this summer’s business is the uncertain contract status of Liverpool’s most iconic trio – Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. With all three entering the final 89 days of their current deals, the club faces a pivotal summer.
TEAMtalk report that while negotiations with Salah and Van Dijk are ongoing, Trent looks increasingly likely to make a high-profile free transfer to Real Madrid. That loss alone would be significant, and Liverpool know that any outgoings of that magnitude must be matched with smart, proactive recruitment.
Slot, heading into his first full summer in charge, appears to be planning not only to replace but to enhance what he inherits.

Kerkez has been a central figure in Bournemouth’s unexpected push up the Premier League table. Currently 10th and just five points off the top four, the Cherries have been revitalised under Andoni Iraola, and Kerkez’s two goals and six assists have caught attention across Europe.
More than just numbers, his performances have shown a blend of composure, attacking threat, and positional intelligence. For a full-back just 21 years old, he plays with a conviction well beyond his years. That confidence is reflected in his reported desire to make the next step: “Sources state that the talented 21-year-old feels he is ready to join a club fighting for titles and a move to Liverpool would be hard for him to turn down.”
It’s this ambition, aligned with Liverpool’s need for long-term solutions, that makes the move feel more than speculative. Manchester United were once in the mix, but with the January addition of Patrick Dorgu and no guaranteed European football, their interest has cooled.
If Bournemouth were to qualify for European competition, it could yet persuade Kerkez to stay another season. Still, according to TEAMtalk’s reporting, even that might not be enough. “Sources state that he is very interested in a move to Liverpool.”

Liverpool’s challenge now is timing. Make the move before Bournemouth’s campaign concludes and risk overpaying, or wait and risk other suitors emerging.
Beyond Kerkez, Bournemouth also face losing Antoine Semenyo, another player generating interest both in the Premier League and in Saudi Arabia. For Iraola’s side, this summer could become a battle to retain their rising stars.
There’s a quiet confidence among Liverpool fans when it comes to scouting – and for good reason. The club’s record of developing talent into first-team stars has been exemplary in the FSG era. Kerkez, on paper, fits that mould perfectly. Young, already Premier League-proven, with the potential to develop into one of the best in Europe.
The concern isn’t the fee – £45m is steep but feasible – it’s the timing. With Robertson ageing and no long-term heir nailed down, the risk of delay could backfire. Add to that the contractual cloud hanging over Trent, Van Dijk, and Salah, and you suddenly see why urgency is needed.
Kerkez wouldn’t just be an understudy; he’d be competition, and that’s what Liverpool need more of next season. The Premier League is only getting tougher. If Slot is to carry the baton from Klopp with authority, this summer has to be bold, not cautious. Signing Kerkez early would be a statement of intent – and a smart one.
