Liverpool star Nathaniel Phillips admits he is feeling more comfortable with his role in the team.

The centre-back has come in for some criticism this season from fans and pundits for his performances.

He has looked more assured at the back in recent weeks, along with the rest of his defensive teammates.

"I feel more comfortable with every game that passes by and probably place a bit more expectation on myself as well with every game that I experience," the centre-half told the club's website after the team's 2-1 home win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

"It's one more under the belt.

"I've never felt like that anyway but sometimes people might have given me a little bit of leeway because I'm new to the Premier League you might say, but I've never felt like that.

"With every game that comes now, it's more expectation on myself. Obviously I'm frustrated to have conceded today but happy to have won the game and kept things tight at the back for the second half."
