Liverpool are gearing up for their FA Cup showdown against Plymouth Argyle this Sunday at Home Park, with manager Arne Slot expected to rotate his squad for the tie against the Championship side. The Reds, fresh off a commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final, will be without key players, which could influence the team’s dynamic.
Slot has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the FA Cup clash due to an injury sustained against Bournemouth last weekend. The England international was absent during the midweek win over Spurs and remains doubtful for the upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton.
“No, I don’t think so yet. That’s going to be too early for him,” Slot stated on Friday regarding Alexander-Arnold’s potential return. “It’s not going to take months and not even weeks, but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available.” Slot also emphasised caution, saying, “We also have to look at the long term… we don’t want to take any risks with so many games afterwards coming up.”
Midfielder Tyler Morton will also miss the tie after suffering a shoulder injury, adding to Liverpool’s growing list of absentees. Despite this, Slot is expected to field a strong yet rotated lineup, with Federico Chiesa likely to feature alongside Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz in attack.
