Liverpool star set for injury return ahead of PL season start | OneFootball

Joe Gomez is set for a return to Liverpool action in earnest on August 8th in a friendly with Athletic Bilbao, just ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign.

The Reds had to make do without the likes of Gomez and Virgil van Dijk for much of last season and the likes of Nat Phillips thankfully stepped up to the plate to at least help deliver a top three spot in the Premier League.

Now it’s time to get back to the very top of the table, though, and Gomez will be looking to have an injury-free season with his return potentially just in time for the new season to start.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It’ll be great to have Gomez back alongside Van Dijk whilst we’ll also be able to call on Ibrahima Konate now and Joel Matip hopefully too.

We have lots of options at centre-half with Nat Phillips still on the books as well and so hopefully there’s no repeat of what happened last season.
