Liverpool’s long wait for a Premier League title celebration at a packed Anfield finally came to an end on Sunday. For the first time since 1990, fans witnessed their team hoist the trophy in front of a jubilant home crowd, a cathartic moment that had eluded them during the behind-closed-doors triumph of 2020.
Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool clinched the Premier League crown in emphatic fashion. The Dutchman’s arrival marked a new era, and it has started in the best possible way — with silverware. But as the celebrations fade, attention now turns to the inevitable summer reshuffle.
One player who could be heading for the exit is Kostas Tsimikas. The Greek full-back, an unsung yet valued member of the squad, took to Instagram with a heartfelt message that has only intensified speculation over his future.
Kostas Tsimikas has never been one for the headlines, but his contribution to Liverpool’s latest success cannot be understated. As reports swirl linking the Reds with AZ Alkmaar’s Milos Kerkez, the 28-year-old posted an emotional tribute on social media, hinting at a possible farewell.
He wrote:“As a kid kicking a ball in Greece, I could never imagine this day – lifting the Premier League trophy as a Liverpool player. Five years at this club have taught me what it means to never walk alone: this city, this team, and these fans carried us through every step.”
“I’m overwhelmed with pride in what we’ve achieved and gratitude for everyone who stood by us. We overcame every challenge together. Greek Scouser’s heart is forever with Liverpool.”

The tone of the message suggests more than just end-of-season reflection. For a player who has often found himself in the shadow of Andy Robertson, lifting the Premier League trophy might just be the perfect parting gift.
With the club reportedly closing in on Kerkez, Tsimikas’ place in the squad looks increasingly uncertain. Andy Robertson, despite an injury-hit campaign, still commands respect and influence both on and off the pitch. But Kerkez represents the future — and Liverpool’s model under Slot will likely lean on youth, energy and long-term planning.
Tsimikas, while reliable and professional, may simply be the unfortunate casualty of this transition. A sale this summer would not only create space for Kerkez but also bring in a respectable fee, something Liverpool could reinvest in other key areas. From a business standpoint, it makes sense. From a sentimental perspective, it’s a little harder to digest.

Interest from Premier League sides is already mounting. For a player with Champions League experience, a Premier League winner’s medal and a professional attitude, Tsimikas represents good value. His versatility, ability to slot into different systems and experience in high-pressure matches make him an appealing option.
Slot, who has already demonstrated his tactical adaptability this season, will want to shape the squad in his image. That could mean difficult decisions, especially involving players like Tsimikas, who have played important but peripheral roles. Ultimately, Liverpool are evolving — and evolution often means letting go.
If this is indeed the end of Tsimikas’ time at Anfield, it will be remembered fondly. Not every player needs to be a headline act to be appreciated. His commitment, character and ability to step up when called upon have made him a cult favourite among Liverpool supporters.
For now, the image of Tsimikas lifting the Premier League trophy in front of a full Anfield will linger — a fitting snapshot of a player who, for five years, gave everything for the shirt.
