Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has shown why his legendary status in Egypt is not necessarily about his footballing abilities.

Salah is one of the greatest players to come out of the country, which has led to his massive popularity among his countrymen and women.

However, Salah's charity work is another reason why he is so widely admired in his homeland.

Salah has donated three million Egyptian dollars (£129,706), per OnTime Sports.

At least 41 people died during a fire at a Coptic Christian church in the Egyptian city of Giza, across the river from the capital of Cairo.

The 30-year-old was in the top ten of The Sunday Times' most charitable list of 2022.
