Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reportedly called an emergency meeting of Premier League captains to discuss the response to the European Super League.

The Reds were joined by their rivals Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal yesterday in announcing they were set to join a new breakaway tournament alongside other European giants such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

However, there has been an outpouring of negative reaction to the proposal, and it now seems Henderson is going to meet with other Premier League captains to discuss the best way to respond, according to Mike Keegan…

One has to wonder if those at the top didn’t quite anticipate how strong a pushback there would be against these ideas, and it could still be that they won’t dare go  through with it.

This afternoon, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola gave perhaps the strongest criticism yet of the Super League’s format, as you can see in the video below…
