Liverpool share CRYPTIC contract update as talks STALL

Arne Slot’s start to life in Liverpool couldn’t have gone much better on the pitch, but there is one massive issue looming that could ruin his whole season.

The Reds currently sit five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and nine points clear of supposed title rivals Arsenal.

Slot’s side are also the only side to have maintained a 100% winning record in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Despite all of Liverpool’s early season success on the pitch, this season could be disastrous for the club in the long-term.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, arguably the club’s three biggest talents, are all out of contract at the end of the season and, as it stands, will leave Anfield for free come the summer.

Liverpool’s cryptic contract clue

As 2025 approaches, the club have released a calendar for the year with each month featuring a different LFC player.

Some keen-eyed supporters have noticed that the club’s out of contract trio all feature in the first four months of the year, suggesting the club doesn’t know whether the players will remain at the club past the end of the season.

The trio’s contracts are up in June and by then their pages on the calendar will have been turned and supporters will be able to carry on enjoying their calendar without a reminder of the players who may have left the club.

This could of course be a complete coincidence, putting your best three players in the first few months makes sense right?

The future of the out of contract trio

The logic that the trio have been placed early in the calendar because they are leaving the club also suggests that none of them will be leaving in the January transfer window, which could be a bonus for some supporters.

Alisson, who’s future at Anfield isn’t certain, features as the player for the month of January and this could also be a hint as to his potential exit in the summer too, although it does seem pretty normal to have the ‘keeper as the first player in the calendar.

There could be absolutely nothing in this theory that the calendar is a hint at the futures of Liverpool’s superstars, but the fanfare surrounding the calendar perfectly sums up the current feeling amongst supporters.

Fans are worried. No one knows whether the club’s three best players will still be at Anfield next season, and all three could leave for absolutely nothing too.

The hysteria over the calendar should be a message to the club that fans want more clarity around the contract renewals and a sign of just how worried some supporters are about losing their favourite players.
