The transfer market is heating up around Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, as according to Santi Aouna, Liverpool are now expected to join the race for the Brazilian winger.

The journalist reports that their manager, Arne Slot, is a big admirer of Rodrygo’s qualities and sees him as a potential target to strengthen his attack.

Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid has changed dramatically in recent months. Under Xabi Alonso’s new management, the 24-year-old has lost his starting spot and was barely used during the Club World Cup.

This has sparked transfer rumours, with top European clubs sensing an opportunity. Arsenal and Bayern Munich have already been linked, and now Liverpool have joined the list of interested clubs.

Move depends on Luis Diaz’s decision

Interestingly, Liverpool will not make any moves for Rodrygo until the future of Luis Diaz is sorted out. The Colombian winger is attracting serious interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The German club have already offered €67 million for Diaz, but Liverpool are holding out for at least €100 million.

If Diaz decides to leave Anfield, Liverpool will quickly launch a move for Rodrygo. The Reds see him as the perfect replacement, offering pace, skill, and goal-scoring ability from the wing.

At the moment, Real Madrid have not received any formal offers for Rodrygo, but they are clear about their position.

If he leaves, it will only be for a fee of at least €100 million. Madrid believe Rodrygo still has huge potential and market value, so they won’t sell cheaply.

For now, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on both situations. They are doing everything they can to keep Diaz but are prepared to act swiftly if he leaves, with Rodrygo now firmly on their radar.
