Liverpool’s reported interest in Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John McGinn is being described as ‘very real’ but the price that the Villans want for the player could well leave the Reds empty-handed.
The club has seen Gini Wijnaldum move on this summer and, naturally, there is now room in the middle of the park for a new player to come in and potentially become a real star.
McGinn, according to The Athletic, is a player that the Reds want to sign with their interest in him being described as ‘very real’ but there is a snag – Villa apparently want £50m for him:
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
This is big money and you can’t see the Reds paying it in all truth.
Villa have got a fair amount of cash to play with themselves and they’ll certainly not need to sell McGinn anytime soon, hence the big fee that they are apparently looking for.
You could see him doing well at Liverpool but the price probably isn’t fair value and it is hard to see the Reds matching this particular valuation.
Maybe there’s some bartering to be had, but we’ll have to wait and see.
