In a recent report, L’Equipe (subscription required) claimed that Liverpool have set their sights on Stade Rennais winger Martin Terrier this summer. It is believed that the Reds could face competition in the form of Leeds United and West Ham United in pursuit of the French wide player.

Terrier’s Decent Season At The Roazhon Park

Terrier had a terrific campaign in French football as he put in a series of productive displays on the left side of Rennes’ attack. The 25-year-old registered 21 goals and seven assists in 45 matches for the French side last season on all fronts.

The French sensation was a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He was even tidy with his ball distribution in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.1% in league football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Terrier Bring To Liverpool?

Terrier is a potent goal-threat in the attacking end of the field as he has a natural knack for scoring a lot of important goals for his team. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and can set up a few clear-cut chances for his teammates in the opposition half. Terrier is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a forward down the middle or act as an attacking midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.

The French sensation is currently playing some of the best football of his career. Hence, Liverpool will do well to lure him to England during this summer transfer period.

We can expect Terrier to bring a lot of goals and creativity to Jurgen Klopp‘s frontline at Anfield. He is good enough to increase competition for places within the Reds‘ match-day squad in the coming seasons.

At 25, Terrier will only get better with each year and could even help Liverpool challenge for even more major trophies in the future. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Merseyside outfit can find a way to win the race for his services.
