Liverpool’s summer business has taken shape amid the chaos of FIFA’s one-off Club World Cup transfer window, and while the headlines chase names like Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, it is Armin Pesci who has quietly penned a five-year deal that could matter more in five seasons than five days.
The Hungarian goalkeeper, just 20 years of age, joins from Puskas Akademia in what is described as the club’s record sale. While he is unlikely to displace Alisson Becker any time soon, his arrival is a calculated move by Liverpool’s recruitment team as they build depth for both the present and the future.

Speaking to M4 Sport, Pesci’s agent Matyas Esterhazy confirmed the deal: “Five years,” he said bluntly, before expanding: “Armin will be at Liverpool next season. This was one of the most important links in our decision. We chose Liverpool because they outlined a professional plan that we can identify with, and Armin is a very intelligent, patient and ambitious player.”
It is not the first time Esterhazy has helped steer Hungarian talent to Merseyside, having also managed Dominik Szoboszlai’s switch to Anfield. Now, another of his clients walks through the Shankly Gates with a clear development path, one that speaks more of careful plotting than panic purchases.

Pesci kept 11 clean sheets in 36 games for Puskas Akademia last season and was key to their second-place finish in the Hungarian top flight. It is the sort of form that drew Liverpool’s attention, even if he arrives without the fanfare of Wirtz or the profile of Kerkez.
With Giorgi Mamardashvili also arriving this summer as Kelleher’s replacement, and Alisson Becker remaining first choice, Liverpool’s goalkeeping ranks are suddenly deep, diverse and competitive.

This is about more than just numbers. It is about future-proofing a position that so often defines seasons. Pesci may not feature heavily in Miami or beyond this summer, but his presence is another step in a strategy that stretches far beyond the short-term transfer window chaos.
