Dominik Szoboszlai has won this season’s first Liverpool Player of the Month award.

The Hungary captain pipped new teammates Alisson and Darwin Núñez in the fans’ vote after a flying start to his Anfield career.

Szoboszlai started all three Premier League games for Jürgen Klopp’s side as they enjoyed an unbeaten start in August.

“It’s a really good feeling. Thanks to all of those who voted for me,” said Szoboszlai.

“I’m just doing my thing, helping the team and happy that I can do my best.

“[The start] was also for me a surprise but thanks to the guys and thanks to the manager. It’s easier that way if I have somebody who is helping me.

“But as I said, I’m trying to do my best, helping the team and the team is in front of everything.”

Szoboszlai recorded his first Liverpool goal earlier this month in their win over Aston Villa.
